“Buckner”: In 2006 I was hired to paint live at a charity auction at the Seawell Grand Ballroom. It was here that I met Eric “Buckner” Winfield. He brought a whole new bag of techniques to the live painting scene that I had not witnessed yet. His stylized approach to cityscapes was truly inspiring. We have painted numerous shows together since then, including painting 5 more years together for that same charity auction. Buckner has not had a solo show of new work for many years, so last Fall I asked him to please create a fresh body of work for this September. He has gone above and beyond. Not only will he have a great display of paintings, he has also taken the time to design a new limited edition t-shirt for The MacSpa. The design features his signature illustrative style and robot theme, while depicting The MacSpa storefront in the midst of the Union Station project in LoDo right now. It’s very hip and urban and you can get one for $25! Men’s and ladies styles available. -Eric Matelski

Public Reception is Thursday, September 5th, 6-9pm.

More about Eric Buckner Winfield: I have always loved everything art had to offer.  It’s exciting, it can be as daring or as tame as you like.  It teaches you discipline as well as encourages you to break the rules. It is never the same the second time through and most importantly, it’s messy.  Life is art and art is life.  They have often been a marker on my own life, through doodles to paintings to 31-foot murals.

I grew up breathing art thanks to my mother, a great artist herself.  I always had the opportunity to paint, to draw and to sculpt.  Early on, I would gather all my art supplies and wait for Bob Ross to come on PBS. I would imitate his every technique. It taught me patience. I shudder every time I hear about the loss of art or music from a curriculum.  Art has taught me much more about myself than any other class I have taken.  In fact, I later graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.  I have since established myself in Denver, Colorado.  I work as a graphic designer and design everything that can be thrown at me.  I am always up for freelance work.

The MacSpa: The MacSpa is a service-based computer boutique, located in downtown Denver. Our personal approach to technology is focused on exceptional customer service through home and business visits, consulting, training, and  in a comfortable spa-like environment. Art receptions are held every first Thursday 6-9pm. Artwork changes monthly and is curated by “Art Pimp,” Eric Matelski.
